by Muscle Power on Two Wheels!
Halfway between the origin and estuary of the Havel river the bike trail of the same name "kisses " the metropolis Berlin in Spandau! Particularly interesting for cyclists: the Havel Bike Trail runs partly on the Berlin-Wall Trail in Berlin-Spandau making the capital’s westernmost district the ideal starting point to learn something of German history and landscapes such as the Mecklenburg Lake District, the Ruppin Country, the Havel Country or the Altmark all on two wheels! On a predominantly flat to slightly hilly course, which is mostly away from car traffic on paved bike trails or side roads, the traditional northeast German cities such as Potsdam and Oranienburg can be reached by bicycle.
Also the cities of Brandenburg/Havel with its cathedral, the optics-city Rathenow, or the picturesque city of Havelberg are part of the nearly 400-mile bike trail system which will get additional appreciation in thecoming year during the federal horticultural show 2015 "Havel Region".
